BY MOHD MAJID MALIK DODA,MAY01— In wake of the concern shown by Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Kishtwar Dr. Ajay Gupta regarding the free flow of abortion drugs in Kishtwar has put the role of drug inspector posted in Kishtwar under scanner as fresh reports revels that other than free flow of abortion drugs in Kishtwar market, there is also reports of free flow of substandard drugs in Kishtwar market posing threat to life.
CMO Kishtwar during his meeting with chemists Association of Kishtwar on implementation of PC & PNDT Act which was also attended by the media reports shows his unhappiness over the falling of sex ratio in Kishtwar District which comes to 876/1000 males as per the data collected from different parts of the District Kishtwar in last one year. Mr. Gupta while addressing the meeting of Chemist Association Kishtwar yesterday shows his concern over the free flow of abortion drugs in Kishtwar market and urged upon the Chemist Association to help in curbing the free supply of such types of drugs in the market so that the problem related to female infanticide could be checked. Mr. Gupta also shows his unhappiness over the ignoring of direction of Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar in which written directions was passed to Drug Inspector Kishtwar check on sale of drugs used in any kind of absorption or could led to drug addiction among the youths.
The under scanner drug inspector who not only skips the important meets in Kishtwar District, but also fails to put gage on unregistered medical shops function in heart of Kishtwar town and its vicinity, but he also fails to check free flow of sub standard drugs in the market going on in Kishtwar District since long in a well coordinated nexus between the medical suppliers and shopkeepers. The shopkeepers are very much busy in selling the substitute medicines instead of the one prescribed by the doctors, that too of sub standard quality. As per reports, the drug Inspector is hardly seen in Kishtwar district and occasionally tour Kishtwar District once in a month, even if he (Drug Inspector) occasionally tour Kishtwar District, the same tour remain only confined to few shops in Kishtwar District.
The reports further said that the under scanner drug inspector check the medical shop record in a hotel room as and when he visited Kishtwar. Moreover there is no record of drug seized from medical shops for random checking as no final report pertaining to the outcome of the labority test is being provided to the medical shop owners. As per the available details available, the Drug Inspector hardly visited the other areas of Kishtwar District like Marwah, Warwan, Dachhan, Chatroo and Paddar where large numbers of illegal medical shops are running without any fear.
