By Yadavindra S Rana ,SOLAN-MAY 24- In Himachal Pradesh, for the first time in the history of Panchayati Raj all women panchayat gram sabha meeting was held at Sayari in Kandaghat sub division of Solan district on Thursday. Wife of Chief Secretary Chandana Roy also participated in the Gram Sabha proceedings as chief guest.
As many as six resolutions were passed during the three-hour long all-women gram sabha session. Ms Sunkhi, secretary, Mahila Mandal, proposed closing of two liquor shops at Sayari and the proposal was passed with voice vote. Other resolutions included water conservation structure; construction of sabji mandi; gram sabha bhawan along with a dairy development scheme exclusively for women of the Panchayat.
Director Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, R.N. Batta said that objective of special woman gramsabha was to ensure involvement of women through gramsabhas in all developmental works being executed or proposed in the area. The beginning of women gram sabha has been made at Sayari and it would continue to be held in other parts of the state also.
In June, the Department would also conduct special awareness programmes for women panchayat representatives of the state. The Department has given special attention to water conservation activities in the state where during last year 105 crore litres of water conservation capacity was developed in the state. This vast capacity of water could be used for minor irrigation works in the state and largely benefit the farmers.
He said that bio and Vermi compost activities in rural areas would also be promoted under MNREGA so as to popularize organic farming in the state. This will result in more income to farmers and better productivity. Rural Development Department has sent a proposal of Rs100 crores to union government under National Rural Livelyhood Programme.
SDM Kandaghat K.C. Gaur called upon women said that cases related to domestic violence should be resolved at village level and after that it should be settled at CDPO and SDM level.
Pardhan Gram Panchayat Sayari Sunder Singh Jaswal said that development works worth Rs. 66 lakhs were completed during last year in his panchayat.
