Chandigarh April 17: Giving another gift to the people of Haryana, the Union Railway Ministry has connected Tohana with New Delhi and Ludhiana through Shatabdi Express train thus making Tohana as the fifth town of Haryana where the Shatabdi Express train would have a regular halt. The other four such towns in Haryana are Kurukshetra, Panipat, Ambala and Rohtak.
The Ludhiana-Delhi Shatabdi would cross Tohana on four days of the week that is on Monday, Tuesday, Friday and Saturday. On way to Ludhiana from Delhi, the Train Number 12037 would halt at 9:54 a.m. and on way to Delhi from Ludhiana, the Train Number 12038 would halt at 6:57 p.m.. This halt would be of two minutes.
It may be recalled that on November 4, 2011, Congress MPs Dr. Ashok Tanwar and Mr. Deepender Singh Hooda had requested the Minister of State for Railway Mr. K.H Muniyappato provide a halt of Ludhiana-Delhi Shatabdi Express Train at Tohana. They had made this request when they travelled with the Minister on inaugural run of the train. The two MPs had discussed various rail projects and urged the Minister for an early approval. The Minister had assured for early action in this regard.
The people, especially the residents of Fatehabad, Hisar and Jind districts have a special reason to cheer as they would be greatly benefited. The people have welcomed the move and thanked the Members of Parliament, the Union and State Government for its initiative. The people would not only be able to travel in Air Conditioned rail coaches but would also be able to save time.
