Chandigarh September 26: Haryana Power Generation Corporation Limited (HPGCL) has implemented a training policy for its employees to enhance their skills and increase productivity. The training policy will cover employees of all categories of HPGCL arrangements had been finalized to provide training to all of its 760 gazetted employees during the balance period of current financial year and to cover its entire manpower including non-gazetted employees from next financial year.
While stating this here today, the Managing Director of HPGCL, Mr Anurag Agarwal said that the training policy would ensure that every employee gets a training of minimum seven days per year, in their area of work, as per the provisions of the National Training Policy. He added that the existing training activities in a growing organization like HPGCL were not adequate to support the training requirement of its employees. Therefore a need was felt to develop a comprehensive policy framework for training. The training policy will cover employees of all categories and HPGCL shall allocate upto 5 per cent of the annual employee salary budget for financing its training requirements.
Regarding methodology for providing training to the employees, he informed that arrangements had been tied up with reputed training institute in the Country viz. National Power Training Institute, Faridabad and the Power Management Institute of NTPC at Noida, among others. The various modes of training would cover induction level training, training through external institutes and training at HPGCL Power Stations through external faculty from reputed training institutes, and through our own experts.
He said that HPGCL would also conduct Training Needs Assessment of its employees every year in order to identify the training needs. Based on this assessment, the training calendar would be prepared so that the employees get maximum benefit of the training undergone. All efforts would be made to ensure that the employees were nominated for training in areas relevant to their duties and in areas which had been identified as per their developmental needs for present and future. The implementation of the training policy would go a long way in improving the skills and expertise of HPGCL employees by exposing them to contemporary technologies and would ultimately lead to further improvement in the performance of the Generating Stations of HPGCL.
