Mr Gupta was addressing officers of Food and Supplies Department, Food Corporation of India, Haryana State Warehousing Corporation and HAFED at Palwal today. He directed to wheat purchasing agencies for timely payments to farmers and also to ensure that wheat from other districts should not reach the district mandi of Palwal. He had received complaints in this regard and had come here to redress them, he added.
He directed the district officers to maintain a vigil on border areas so that wheat from other states could not reach mandis of the State. He said that this year, four-and-a-half lakh metric tonnes of wheat had been produced in the district which was more as compared to last year production.
He warned the ‘Aadhatis’ to note down name, village and telephone number of farmers coming to mandis for selling their wheat. If an Aadhati is found purchasing wheat of some other state then police action would be taken against him, he added.
