Jan 11: Alleging Hooda Government for imposing hefty electricity bills on consumers of the state, the senior INLD leader and Kalayat MLA , Rampal Majra has said that the state government has failed to check power theft. In a statement issued here today Shri Majra said that the big industrialists like Adani Power are earning huge profit by selling electricity at higher rates to the state on the other hand the government was charging higher electiricty rates from the consumers. “it is ironical that State’s own 8 Thermal power plants are closed, but the Hooda government was purchasing electricity at higher rates from the companies like Adani power”, he added. He also accused the Hooda government of installing cheap and defected Chinese machineries in Thermal power plants, which has lead to the acute shortage of electricity in the state causing huge loss to the power companies. Due to installation of cheap and defected machinery, Yamunanagar power plant had failed to generate electricity and government has imposed all charges on the power consumers.
He said that the foundation stone of the Yamunanagar power plant was laid by former chief minister Chaudhary Om Prakash Chautala, who had rejected the demand of Reliance for amendment in the agreement clause to install china made cheap machines in the power plant. But the present Hooda government after come to power once rejected the request from Reliance had finally allowed Reliance to amend agreement clause just to install cheap and defected Chinese machinery, which failed to generate power soon after the commissioning.
He said that Shri OP Chautala being the former CM and opposition leader had also written to the state government not to allow the company to amend the agreement clause for installation china made machinery but the Hooda government gave permission to the company to fulfill their personal interests. Now the power companies and innocent electricity consumers of Haryana was paying for ignoring Chautala’s advice as both unit of the Yamunanagar power plant are closed and people of the state are paying hefty electricity bills due to wrong doings of the Hooda government. The INLD leader also demanded the state government to roll-back the hiked electricity prices and put a check over the corruption of the power companies.
The former CPS said that besides two units of Yamunanagar power plant all units of Khedar (Hisar) power plant and four units of Panipat power plant are also closed but the government was paying expenditure of workers and employees deputed there. He said that as the power plants of the state’s own are closed and now the government was purchasing electricity from private companies like Adani power at higher rates and also the re-commissioning of these power plants will also put a huge burden on the state exchequer and the common man.
