The Kisan Call Centres (KCC) run by the Government of India have been functioning since January 21, 2004. The total number of Call Centres has now increased to 25 at different locations covering farmers in all the States/UTs. The existing Call Centre locations are adequate to provide information on the calls received from the farmers and are serving the needs of farmers in the entire country. Till October 31, 2010, 55.75 lakh calls have been received in these Kisan Call Centres.
A massive publicity campaign has been launched to create wide awareness about the KCC scheme and the toll-free number. The campaign includes telecast of TV advertisement spots in all major languages through major public and private TV Channels. These advertisement spots have been telecast at time slots matching with the preference of farmers in different States. The toll-free number has been changed to 1800-180-1551 to expand the accessibility of the toll-free number through mobile phones of all telephone service providers’ networks. As a result, number of calls has increased more than 3 folds from November, 2009 (58738 calls) to October 2010 (192436 calls).
Regular training is being provided to the Level 1 agents through appropriate tie-up with the State Agricultural Universities and ICAR Institutes to keep updating the knowledge level of agents. In addition, a data-base of Kisan Knowledge Management System (KKMS) has been developed for use by the call centres while answering the farmers’ queries instantaneously and comprehensively. An online escalation mechanism to experts at various levels has also been conceptualized.
The issues related to call disconnection, call terminations etc. have been taken up with the BSNL/MTNL to sort out such issues.

Kisan call center agents are one of the experinced Agriculture expert. They reply to farmer instantly. No other can reply in a such acurate manner. I think their is big scam in Ministry of Agriculture , that is why they are not increasing Salary of Kisan cal center agents. Change the Ministry of Agiculture, Addn commissionar, Joint comm of agriculture. They distribute tender and eat money in the form of bribe.
Kisan Call center Experinced agents should be abosorbed on Govt scale with minimum salary Rs 33000 + HRA etc. Govt should consider the need of Agriculture expert in the Agriculture sector. Each Kisan call center agents reply atleast 200 farmers a day. Govt is wasting money to other scheme. Why they are not apying attention to very genuine demand of KCC
Increase the salary of Kisan Call center agents.
Kisan call center agents salary is rs 10100 only . This is very low salary for them according to the work at Kisan call center. Govt should pay them Rs 33000 Per month + HRA to senior persons and Rs 25000 to new comer. Due to low salary every agents leave the job within 6 month. This is great loss to farmers and ministry as the New comer in Kisan call center cannot reply correctly. Wrong information to farmer by new joinee will effect the performance of Kisan call center.
Ministry of Agriculture please pay your attention to the salary of Kisan call center agents
Govt is paying just Rs 10100 Per month to Level 1 expert of Kisan Call center. I leave the job because this is a challanging job but govt is not paying any attention to the KCC agents.
Govt issue KCC tender and eat bribe from company. Agents in Kisan call center is working from very long time. But merely Rs 10100 is not sufficient for them. According to work at Kisan call center Senior agent’s Minimum salary should be Rs 33000 Per month + HRA. and should be annually increase.
Govt should pay attention otherwise no use of Kisan call center becuase new person will give wrong information to farmers and there will be loss to farmers.
What gov. think about those who attained this huge amount of farmers call in Kisan Call Center? For information, their salary is not satisfactory and they have not job security.
