CHANDIGARH, AUG 4 :Precriously placed at 83 for 5 in 28.5 overs, Yuvraj Singh played a scintillaing knock of 136 to bolster Mohali to 297 for 7 in 82 overs against Zone A in the Punjab Inter-District Under -19 at the PCA Cricket Stadium in Mohali today.
Zone A won the toss and put Mohali in to bat. Medium pacer Raj Kamal bowled a superb spell as Mohali were struggling at 83 for 5 in 28.5 overs. However, Yuvraj Singh played a clavier knock of 136 which included 16 fours to prop up Mohali. He was associated in a sixth wicket stand of 79 runs with Gunjot Singh (29) and 89 runs stand with Harpreet (24 not out) before he was stumped by Manil of the bowling of Sukhdeep.
Mohali skipper Gunjot Singh applied the closure at 297 for 7 in 82 overs. Rajkamal (4 for 50) and Sukhdeep (2 for 93) were the main wicket takers for Zone A.
Replying ,Zone A had a disaster start as they lost their opener Gurpreet without opening his account and the team’s total at 2. At the close of play Zone A were 19 for 1 of 11 overs :

At the Sector 16 Cricket Stadium, hosts Chandigarh piled up 343 for 9 in 95 overs against Amritsar.
Chandigarh opted to bat after winning the toss. Their openers Shivam Khurana (68, 10x4s and 2x6s) and Shah Nawaj Mirza (42, 5x4s) stitched together and opening partnership of 82 runs, before Shah Nwaz was stumped of the bowling of Pankaj Chowdhary for 42. Then followed another fruitful partnership of 66 runs for the third wicket between Shivam Khurana and skipper Anil Sihag (40, 8x4s). Thereafter Ankit Kaushik took charge of the proceedings and went on to hammer an unbeaten century (100, 6 x 4s, 3x6s).. He was involved in a fifth wicket stand of 45 runs with Gaurav Puri (22) and 8th wicket stand of 70 runs with Anshul Tripathi (32, 4x4s). Chandigarh scored 343 for 9 in allotted 95 overs.
Pankaj Chowdhary (4 for 111) and Vinay Chowdhary (3 for109) were the pick of Amritsar bowlers. Both matches will resume tomorrow at 8.00 a.m at their respective venues.
