CHANDIGARH-May 16, 2008: In a meeting of Yuva Democrates today its President, Mr.. Ishan Tayal welcomed the statement of Shri Pardeep Chhabra, Mayor, Municipal Corporation, U.T. Chandigarh that he will not allow to increase water tariff charges and secondly for that he would not allow to impose property tax on residential property in U.T. Chandigarh. Indeed it is a great and bold step.
While addressing the Yuva Democrates its General Secretary Mr. Tusar Gupta demanded that Mr. Chhabra also tried to solve the problem of parking in the villages of U.T. and that of rent it is going up day by day in U.T. Chandigarh and on the other hand according to one survey there are lying about 20,000 houses in U.T. vacant. People have fear in their minds that the tenants would not vacate their houses. The prices of property are going high day by day. People do not get houses to live on the other hand there are lying 20,000 houses vacant.
The need is that to remove fear from the minds of the people which can be done only by bringing a Rent Act, which is balanced. In the end Mr. Tayal requested Mr. Chhabra to give his full-hearted support to bring a balanced Rent Act in Chandigarh.
