CHANDIGARH, June 22:Youth Football Club handed out a 5-0 drubbing to Kings VIII in the final of the inaugural KV-48 Eight-A-Side Football Tournament at the Banyan Tree School ground in Sector 48 here today.
Youth Football Club proved too good for their rivals in all departments of the game.. Showing good skills and quick clearance by their defenders, Youth Football Club enjoyed territorial supremacy and led 2-0 at half time.
Kings VIII tried their best to match their rivals. However, their forwards failed to pierce the tough defence of Youth Football Club. Kings VIII forwards had chances to score but their forwards either shot wide or their shots were too weak to beat YFC goalkeeper Aksh.
Kings VIII’s best opportunity to score came in the second half as they were awarded a penalty. However, Arjun Kundra’s spot kick was foiled by an alert YFC goalkeeper Aksh.
YFC took time to settle down. After initial probing, they forged ahead with a Tanuj’s goal in the 18th minute. Four minutes later, Kartik doubled the score.
On crossing over, Harminder (32nd), Pankaj (40th) and Mohit (43rd) contributed one goal each to swell the winners’ tally.
The Banyan Tree School Director Ravinder Talwar was introduced to the players of both teams.
