Dr.Avnish Jolly, LUDHIANA, May 16: The newly elected Member of Parliament from Ludhiana, Manish Tewari today expressed his gratitude to the people here for providing him the chance to represent them in the highest legislative house of the country. He said, “I owe my sincere gratitude to all the people of the constituency in general and those who voted for me in particular for ensuring my victory”.In a statement issued after being declared elected from the Ludhiana parliamentary constituency Tewari said, “while I owe special gratitude to those who worked and voted for me, but I owe my representation in the parliament to each and every person and voter of the constituency whether he or she voted for me or not”. He elaborated, “my doors will always remain open for each and every person from the constituency irrespective of his or her party affiliation, because it is the people of Ludhiana I represent as a whole”.
About his agenda for Ludhiana, he pointed out, he had already issued a vision document before the elections. “My priority would be to stick to that and also seek suggestions for improvement”, he said, while adding, “moreover I would always welcome ideas, opinions and suggestions aimed at improving the lot of people of Ludhiana”. He said, he would always be available to the people 24×7 round the clock round the year.
Tewari said, the impressive performance by the Congress all over the country was an endorsement of the policies of the Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh, the Congress president, Ms Sonia Gandhi and the general secretary Mr Rahul Gandhi. “People of India including Punjab have given a clear mandate to Dr Singh and the Congress for its progressive and secular vision aimed at inclusive growth and progress”, he observed.
The Ludhiana MP said, “last but not the least, I thank all the legislators, former legislators and ministers, councilors, workers and supporters for putting in a united and concerted effort that ensured my victory”. He added, without their support it would not have been possible.
