CHANDIGARH, July 8: The Chandigarh administration has decided to appoint PCS and HCS officer as Charge officers for the smooth conduct of Socio Economic and Caste Census 2011.These HCS/PCS officers shall be the in charge of the Six Charge centres decided by the Chandigarh Administration where data collected during the caste census 2011 will be uploaded .In a meeting convened by Home Secretary UT along with alongwith the Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh and other senior officers of the other departments , it was decided to have six Charge Centre as (SDM (South) office, Sector 42, Department of Sports Sector 42, Government Medical College Sector 32, Government College Sector 42, Municipal Corporation Office , Manimajra and Municipal Corporation , Sector 17 Chandigarh.The Commissioner, Municipal Corporation who is looking after the BPL Census of Urban areas of Chandigarh apprised that 13 Master trainers have been provided training at New Delhi and these master trainers shall impart training to the Supervisors/Enumerators on 14th & 15th July, 2011 for the conduct of Caste Census 2011. Prior to this, the training of BEL employees will take place on 12th & 13th July. During the training, the staff shall be facilitated to enter the requisite responses into a hand held device to be carried by each he data entry operatus related to every household while gathering the database. whereas training of Enumerators/Supervisors has been scheduled in two phases. Around 430 Enumerators and 100 Supervisors will go through training on 14th July whereas rest 420 Enumerators and 100 supervisors will get the training on 15th July.
Commissioner, MC also informed that information related to Charge Registers, Layout Maps & Abridged House Lists is being handed over by the Census Department for the Conduct of Socio Economic and Caste Census 2011. Around Nine Chandigarh Administration officials of the level of superintendent have been appointed as Assistant Charge officers for Urban areas who will look after the work of Supervisors/Enumerators. The Identity Cards, Census Kits, Manuals and other material for the Enumerators/Supervisors will be handed over to them at the time of Training.
The Chandigarh Administration has also decided to set up Helpline/Complaint Centre in the D.C. office U.T, Chandigarh as well as in the Census Department UT. This toll- free telephone shall also be installed as a helpline related to Caste Census 2011 work.
