Chandigarh, August 20, 2009 : On 65th birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi celebrated as Sadbhavna Diwas (harmony day) and Akshay Urja Diwas (energy day) in Chandigarh. He began dismantling the Licence Raj – government quotas, tariffs and permit regulations on economic activity – modernised the telecommunications industry, expanded science and technology initiatives and improved relations with the US. Actually, he was the pioneer of today’s mobile era in the country.
Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (NYKs), Punjab organized State Level Sadbhavana Diwas at Gurmukh Singh Musaffir Bhawan, Sector 24, Chandig arh. In remembrance of Rajiv Gandhi, hymns from youth of City Beautiful were sung. Around 250 youth volunteers from City Beautiful participated in celebrations to create awareness for harmony and saving energy.
On this occasion Sh. Jagdeep Singh Cheema, Hon’ble Member Board of Governors , NYKs New Delhi stressed that youth of the country must participate in the reconstruction of Nation building and fulfill the dreams of Late Sh. Rajeev Gandhi. He also administers the National Integration Pledge to the youth for settlement of all differences and disputes relating to religions, language, and region by peaceful and constitutional means.
Earlier Sh. J. S. Kooner, Zonal Director, NYKs, Punjab in his brief speech said that the youth of country have traditional values to protect this integrating system and promote its ideals. He also advised the present youth they should come forward to participate to strengthen our social values and fabric.
Dr. G.S. Bajwa, DYC, Nehru Yuva Kendra, Chandigarh in his welcome address highlights the importance of Sadbhavna Diwas in reference to promotion of Integration and Social Harmony in all the sections of the Society. He emphasized that we never think what country give us but we should always think what we can do for nation.
