Chandigarh, April 28: The Home Secretary directed to install CCTV cameras at the Entry and Exit points of the Rock garden and emphasised that other vital areas of the Garden should also be covered under CCTIV cameras to keep vigil on the movements of the visitors. it was decided in the meeting of the managing body of the society for the maintenance and Development of Rock Garden was convened by Sh.Ram Niwas Home Secretary UT cum Chairman of the Society at Rock Garden today, attended by Sh. Nek Chand, Director and creator of Rock Garden, Superintendent Engineer construction 2, Additional Deputy Commissioner UT, Principal, Chandigarh College of Architecture and other officials of Chandigarh Administration.
Home Secretary also directed to periodically maintain the water bodies in the Rock Garden. The funds have also been approved for the work related to removal of sludge algae from the water channel, pits, and waterfalls at Rock Garden.To promote the Night tourism, the whole area of the Rock Garden will be illuminated to make it more attractive for the tourists during the evening hours .A team of College of Architecture is already preparing the estimates and specification of the luminaries required for the illumination of the Rock Garden.
To make the Rock Garden litter free and maintain hygiene, around 100 new dustbins designed in different figurines of animals shall be put at vantage spots in the Rock Garden. For the proper safety and security of the visitors’ proper signages and caution boards shall be installed near all sensitive points to guide and direct the visitors.
To avoid any mishap and also any form of venturing out by the tourists in the water bodies, aesthetically designed protection wall shall be constructed near the Water fall.The Home Secretary along with the committee members inspected the large sized aquarium which is special attraction for tourists. To keep aquarium in good condition, the funds to the tune of Rs 4 lac have been approved for augmentation and up gradation of aquarium section, a special attraction for tourists
In the forthcoming months, the society for the maintenance and Development of Rock Garden shall celebrate its maiden Rock Garden Festival in its premises to showcase traditional forms of folk and dances from various states besides other colourful activities.
