Chandigarh: Punjab BJP chief Kamal Sharma has stated that the Union Railway Budget presented by the BJP led NDA government at the centre was the start of “Good Days” (Acche Din) for Punjab because it was for the first time in the history of railways that our state has been given such an importance in this budget.
In a press release issued from party headquarters here, Sharma said the announcement of Saharsa-Amritsar Jansadharan Express, New Delhi-Bhatinda Shatabdi Express (Bi-weekly), Ferozepur-Chandigarh Express (6 days a week), Nagpur-Amritsar weekly train and High Speed Train from Jammu to New Delhi Via Pathankot would prove a turning point in the rail history of Punjab to improve its connectivity with different parts of the country.
The BJP state chief said that announcement of starting Special trains to run on Sikh Circuit was the long pending demand of the Punjab region that has been fulfilled in this budget by the Union Railway Ministry.
“Getting 5-6 new trains for Punjab in the Union budget has happened for the first time in Punjab and its only because of the visionary leadership that country got in form of our Prime Minister Sh Narender Modi,” he said.
Sharma claimed that the starting of Bathinda-Delhi Shatabdi and new train from Ferozepur to Chandigarh were the long pending demands of the people of south-west Malwa but these demands time and again were neglected by the Congress led governments at the Centre.
He also said the Union Railway Minister’ Sadananda Gowda’s announcement to introduce pre-cooked and “ready-to-eat meals of reputed brands” on trains across the country would also go long way in improving the services in the railways.
Sharma also thanked Gowda for selecting New Delhi-Amritsar and New Delhi-Jammu Tawi sections for starting of new services for passengers in which they will be able to order meals from these while on-board using text messages and emails.
