The India Post, Chandigarh, August 22, 2008:Padma Shree Pt. Madhup Maudgalya son and disciple of Padma Shree (Lt.) Pt. Vinaya Chandra Maudgalya delivered lecture on the topic “Improvement of Traditional Compositions”.
He started with raga Bilaskhani Todi followed by Alhaiya-Bailawal, Mian-Malhar, Gaud-Malhar and concluded his recital with Bhajan. His music is imbued with a rare luminous quality of purity, depth and conviction of Raga was of great values for the students and for the music lovers. The audience was spell bound with his excellent performances.
Prof. J. Bedi, Sitarist and disciple of Shri Anil Dhar and Debashish Mukherjee of Senia Gharana delivered Lecture-cum-Demonstration on the topic “Impact of Gayaki and Tantarkari Ang in Sitar”. He has a rare skill of excelling in both instruments Sitar and Surbahar. He presented raag Shudh Sarang and Khamaj and concluded with Raag Bihag. Dr. Paramjit Singh and Sh. Anil Kumar accompanied on Tabla according to Prof. Saroj Ghosh, Chairperson, Dept. of Music.
