11 Nov : National Education Day was celebrated with great fervour at Kendriya Vidyalaya No.1 Chandimandir Cantt to commemorate the birth anniversary of the eminent educationist Maulana Abul Kalam Azad. The Principal, Ms Bhupinder Kaur garlanded the portrait of the first education minister of independent India and along with the House Prefects, lighted the lamp of learning, symbolising the eradication of illiteracy and ignorance with the light of knowledge and education.
Quoting the example of Michelle Obama, who during her recent visit emphasized on the need of having a strong value system to achieve success and make the best of the opportunities available, she advised the students to work hard to attain their goal in life.
“Education is a process by which the society deliberately transmits /passes on its accumulated values and skills from one generation to another”, she said.
She informed the students that born in a family of scholars, Abul Kalam Azad struggled for undivided India, possessed multi-lingual proficiency and promoted right to education, adult education, technical education and university education.
Self-composed poem ’Nakal Ek Burai’ by Shabnam of Class XI A inspired the students to adopt the right means to achieve right ends. ’Shikshako Kuch Kar Dikhao’ by Divya X-B ,’Kitaben’ by Neha III- B, ’My Dear School’ by Diksha III- A, ‘Maine Bas Chalna Seekha Hai’ by Neelam IX-B and the songs ‘School Chalen Hum’ and ‘Aage Badhte Jaana hai’ entertained and enlightened the audience. Swastika of Class VIII –A presented her views on ‘Education and Development’ very impressively. Portrait making and slogan writing competitions were held to highlight the national goal of ‘Education for All’.
