Chandigarh, September 27th: Classical Morning Raga fascinated the morning walkers at Sukhna Lake promenade on the occasion of World Tourism Day celebrations in the city today. Students of the Chandigarh Institute of Hotel Management, Sector 42 and Amebdkar Institute of Hotel Management Sector 42 greeted visitors, foreign tourists at the Chandigarh Railway station and Chandigarh Airport with flowers respectively. The Department of Tourism in association with CITCO organized various activities throughout the day to mark the World Tourism Day which falls on 27th September.
The day unfolded with a wonderful classical musical performance “SURNANDAN” by Subhash Ghosh at , Sukhna lake .Renowned city-based artiste Subhash Ghosh’s One hour long programme made the morning walkers to standstill with phenomenal performance , The artiste mesmerized the audience with his compositions .His concluding item, Bhajan numbers of the song “Vaishnavi jan to tene kahiye je ” was well received by the audience. Prominent among those who attended the function this morning was the Finance Secretary UT , Secretary Tourism , President Hotelier association, officials from Chandigarh administration, Citizens of Chandigarh and also few foreigners.
CITCO arranged to provide complimentary ride on its popular Hop on Hop Off tourist coach to tourists visited here today . Offering of Special discounts were there in CITCO Hotels- Hotel Mountview, Hotel Shivalikview, Hotel Parkview and others.
In the evening Aditya Narayan spell bound the audience with his original songs from new movies .The visitors witnessing the Bollywood musical night were not only fascinated with his unique style of singing but also with the youthfulness of young Aditya Narayan who is the son of legendary Bollywood Singer Udit Narayan. The evening became more scintillating with amazing sound and lighting reinforcement done by BreakThru Sounds, Chandigarh.
There shall be poster making contest at 2 pm at Rock garden followed by classical performance by renowned artist Mr. Ventakashan M Kumar at the Tagore theatre on28th September while On 29th September, Colourful Punjabi Musical Hungama, will be organized at Beant Singh Memorial Open Theatre, Sector-42, Chandigarh.
