CHANDIGARH, NOV 25 : The executive committee of Jat Sabha Chandigarh has decided to conduct a seminar on prevention of drug abuses and free medical check-up camp in February/March next year Jat Dharmshala in Sector 6 in Panchkula.
Another important decision taken by the executive committee meeting, which was presided over the Jat Sabha president Dr MS Malik, IPS (Retd) at Jat Bhawan in Sector 27 here, was celebration of the 128th birth anniversary of Deen Bandhu Sir Chhotu Ram on Basant Panchmi day on January 31in Panchkula.
Former Haryana Director General of Police Dr. M.S. Malik, said that the xommittee approved the agenda, mainly income and expenditure accounts for the financial year 2007-08, progress of construction work of Deen Bandhu Sir Chhotu Ram Jat Dharmshala in Panchkula, participating and giving cooperation in the activities of other Jat Sabhas/Institutions being carried out for the welfare and development of the community and also decided to conduct a seminar on prevention of drug abuses and free medical check-up camp.
The executive committee also discussed the issue of reservation of Jats in different sectors and also the right of dependents of war heroes and also of those who sacrificed their lives in protecting the safety, security and integrity of the country and also of those fighting with anti social elements, dreaded terrorists and criminals.
The executive committee unanimously resolved that the Central and state governments should include the Jat community as such in the list of OBC thereby facilitating the reservation for all eligible persons of the community in all educational institutions, government and semi-government jobs in public sector undertakings under OBC quota.
The committee further called the authorities that the Gurnam Singh committee report in this connection must be implemented in toto.
The copies of these resolutions will be sent to the Chief Minister, Haryana, Prime Minister of India, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, presidents of all political parties and all Jat Sabha/institutions in and outside the country.
The committee also decided that the Jat Sabha Chandigarh will closely associate with other like minded social organizations for speeding up the movement with a view to achieve the goal of getting reservation in different sectors for the community.
