Art Exhibition was inaugurated by the Chief Guest Smt.Kamlesh ,Chairperson Social Welfare Board, Chandigarh . She gone through all the handicraft material made by vocational centre’s ,running through Nehru Yuva Kendra Chandigarh . The handicraft items like Phulkari, bedsheets, pillows, and pakhian (fan) were beautifully handcrafted by the young girls from the vocational centre’s as well as mehndi stalls and cosmetic material was also displayed. An exhibition of art works like painting , sculptures , graphic prints and photography by the young artists also added to the charm of the Mela.
Dr.G.S. Bajwa , Dist. Youth Coordinator, Nehru Yuva Kendra Chandigarh, welcomed the Chief Guest Smt.Kamlesh and briefed that the mela can provide an opportunity to the youth to exhibit their talents and sell the products . Urban and semi-urban youth and population will get an opportunity to learn and appreciate the folk culture of the country.
Smt. Kamlesh in her speech appreciated the efforts of Nehru Yuva Kendra Chandigarh and said that a wonderful platform has been provided to the young artist to exhibit their talent.. She felt that this kind of artists deserve moral and financial support so that their good work can be exposed at State and National level.
