7 Feb, Manoj Godara :The National Conference on ‘Managing Technology for Organizational Excellence’ in association with ‘The Economic Times’ hosted by the Faculty of Management Studies, Swami Vivekanand Group of Institutes, was inaugurated here at Central Campus SVIET, today by Dr. Rajneesh Arora, Vice Chancellor, Punjab Technical University, Jalandhar. Sh. Vivek Atray, Associate Director, Price WaterHouse Coopers, was the Guest of Honor. The inaugural session of conference began with lamp lighting by the chief guest along with the Guest of Honor. This was followed by welcome address by Shri Manmohan Garg, CEO SVGOI.
The objective of the conference was to serve a common platform to generate lateral thinking about managing technology for organizational excellence. 251 papers were submitted by eminent researchers and scholars. Out of these 251 papers, 246 were national papers and 5 were international papers. The participants were from different fields as Corporate Executives, Researchers, Academicians, Bankers, Professionals, Students, and I. T. Professionals. Few of the speakers who spoke in the conference were Shyamali Ekanayake, University of Kelayana, Sri Lanka; Dr. Prabin, IIM, Indore; Dr. Parmeshwar Iyer, IIM, Banglore; Dr. abhay Kulkarni, Director, IIM, Pune; Dr. P. K. Gupta, Director, Institute of Technology, Durgapur; Dr. Dalip Kumar, Director Corporate Relations, Acharya Institute of Management, Banglore. The thrust areas of the conference were ‘Managing and Implementing Technology’, Role of Technology in Managing a Global Business’, Developing India in the field of Technology’, Developing India in the field of Technology’, ‘Impact of Technological Changes on the Organization’, Technology Issues in Indian Small and Medium Enterprises and Related Topics and many more.
Dr. Rajneesh Arora, Vice Chancellor, Punjab Technical University, Jalandhar, while appreciating the efforts of SVIET said, “Technology has changed the rules of business and provided more tools to capitalize on new opportunities and these types of conferences provide a common platform to the academicians, corporate, managers and students for dissemination of knowledge for the welfare of the society and to inculcate interest in research among Management Students.
Shri Vivek Atray, Associate Director, Price WaterHouse Coopers said, “In today’s world, the need for management technology has to be given its due so that our country can have the much needed expertise in this key area.”
CEO, SVGOI, Shri Manmohan Garg stated that the conference was just like a mega event and it brought the researchers, experts, academicians, corporate, managers and students on a common platform to discuss the latest technology in management.
Shri Ashwani Garg, Chairman, SVGOI, stated, “The Conference proved to be interesting, informative and stimulating, showcasing both leading and doctoral research in the management arena.”
Prof. I. K. Kataria, Managing Director, SVGOI, said, “ I would like to thank all the speakers, researchers, participants, and our partnering organisations for their support and active participation in this important event as their participation contributed enormously in making the conference a great success.”
All the necessary arrangements were made to make the guests comfortable. The participants were given Conference Kits, comprised of schedule, Notepad and Stationery. The selected papers will be published in Proceedings.
