CHANDIGARH, NOV 7 : A 102-run partnership between opener Daksh Aggarwal (54 not out) and Manjot Singh (74) helped St Stephen’s School, Togan beat DAV School, Sector 15 by six wickets in the fifth Moly Carver Cricket Tournament for High Schools being jointly organised by St Stephen’s School and Desh Prem Azad Cricket Academy here today.
Set to score 193 for victory, St Stephen’s Togan suffered two early jolts as their opener Karan Aggarwal (4) and captain Prakshit Rana (15) returned to the pavilion early in the innings (28 for 2). However opener Daksh Aggarwal amd belligerent Manjot applied themselves well and executed their strokes all over the wicket with authority.
Daksh Aggarwal’s patience unbeaten knock of 54 contained six fours. Manjot’s 44-ball knock of 74 was studded with13 fours and one six. Lovjit remained not out on 26 in12 balls and five fours as St Stephen’s School scored 193 for 4 in 23.3 overs.
Earlier, DAV School won the toss and elected to bat. They were bowled out for 192 in 28 overs. A 70-run partnership for the fourth wicket between Abhishek and Anshuman (11) was the highlight of their innings. Abhishek hit 30 with the help of two fours. Anubhav made 38 with three boundaries. Rohan and Puneet contributed 11 runs each.
Right hand left hand break bowler Karan Aggarwal took three wickets for 40 runs. Talwinderjit Singh Junior (2 for 25) and Shubham Gaur (2 for 30) were the other successful bowlers for St Stephen’s.
In another match, St Anne’s School ousted Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 32 by 81 runs. St Anne’s batted first and made 181 for 9 in allotted 30 overs. Jason Bhatti and Kshitij were involved in a 65-run partnership for the sixth wicket. Jason made a hurricane 35 off 19 balls and hit seven fours. Kshitij’s knock of 34 came in 28 deliveries and contained four boundaries and one six. Vishesh Singh and Parnav Miglani contributed 27 and 23, respectively. Mandeep (3 for 50) and Sumit Hooda (2 for 27) were the most successful bowlers for Government Model School.
In reply, Govt MSSS-32 were dismissed for 100 in 22.4 overs. Sumit Hooda (36, 1×4, 2×6) and Mandeep (10) were associated in a 30-run partnership for the fourth wicket;. Deepak and Ishwar made 10 and 11, respectively.
St Anne’s off break bowler Shivdeep was wrecker-in-chief of GMSSS-32 innings as he captured six wickets for just 13 runs.
