Sanjay Pahwa, Chandigarh: Chandigarh Traffic Police is organizing lecture-cum-demonstrations in various schools in the city in order to give a wider coverage to road safety education. Apart from this it is felt that a current programme of road safety education and awareness among the school children and general public have scope for further expansion.
To achieve the objective of Road Safety, Chandigarh Traffic Police has started a 5 days practical workshop for students of 8th to 10th standard on Road Safety a pilot project with the theme of “Road Royals” at Chandigarh Traffic Park, Sector-23, Chandigarh in association with Mrs. Leena Yashpaul, Traffic Marshal. 10 students each from Govt Model Senior Secondary School, Sectors 10,16,15,23 & 22 participated in this workshop. Total 50 students were present during the first day of workshop and they have been imparted practical training about road safety with interactive discussion about road rules and regulation. Sh. Vijay Kumar, DSP Traffic also delivered the lecture on road safety and motivated the students to come forward to join such workshops. Today, a presentation on the working of Chandigarh Traffic Police and films on road safety were shown to the students.
This road safety workshop will continue for five days and during the workshop, these students will be given practical training on road safety, which includes visit to intersection, Traffic Park etc.
