CFA selects 34 for Santosh Trophy coaching camp CHANDIGARH, MAY 6:Chandigarh have been clubbed with Tamil Nadu, Bihar and Sikkim in Cluster I in the National Football Championship for Santosh Trophy to be played at Jammu and Srinagar from May 25 to June 15.Chandigarh Football Association secretary general Rakesh Bakshi said that Cluster I and II matches, including pre-quarter-finals, would be played at the GGM Science College ground in Jammu from May 26. The matches of clusters III to VIII will be played at the Poloi Ground of Bakshi Stadium.Chandigarh will begin their campaign on May 26 with a match against Bihar. Their next two Cluster I matches will be on May 28 vs Tamil Nadu and on May 30 vs Sikkim.Seven-time champion Punjab and 29-time champions West Bengal along with last year’s semi-finalists Kerala and Maharashtra have been directly seeded into quarter-final league.The following are the groupings: Cluster I: Tamil Nadu, Bihar, Chandigarh and Sikkim. Cluster II: Services, Manipur, Orissa, Nagaland. Cluster III: Delhi, Tripura, Gujarat. Cluster IV: Jammu and Kashmir, Pudicherry, Daman and Diu and Himachal Pradesh. Cluster V: Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh and Jharkhand. Cluster VI: Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Assam. Cluster VII: Chattisgarh, Railways and Miozram. Cluster VIII: Meghalaya, Goa and Uttrahand.Meanwhile, the Chandigarh Football Association has selected 34 probables for coaching camp in preparation for Chandigarh’s participation in the Santosh Trophy. The probables, selected during the Chandigarh Senior National Football Championship for Sher-e-Punjab Trophy, will attend coaching camp from May 7 evening. Training will be imparted in morning and evenng sessions. The association has appointed National Institute of Sports (NIS) qualified coach Mukesh Kumar of Chandigarh Police.
