Dr. Avnish Jolly, Chandigarh, July 28 :The Punjab Chief Minister Mr. Parkash Singh Badal today reviewed the status of various ongoing development projects worth Rs. 180 crore for Sri Anandpur Sahib and Talwandi Sabo being carried out in and around these holy cities as a part of commemoration of Tercentenary celebration of ‘Gurta Gaddi Divas’ of Sri Guru Granth Sahib during a high level meeting held here under his chairmanship.
The Chief Minister directed all heads of the various departments involved in this mission to complete all the works including water supply, sewerage, solid west management, storm water drainage system, roads, bus stand (Anandpur Sahib) buildings of ITI, Yattri Niwas and Schools, etc. under these projects in a stipulated time. Regarding storm water drainage the Chief Minister suggested opting surface drainage system and also to study the possibilities to collect this water in a lack, from where it could further be used for irrigation purpose.
It was informed in the meeting that tendering process for most of the works had been completed and works would be allotted soon so that these could be completed by the end of March 2009 positively. After brainstorming discussions over the plan the Chief Minister assured the officers that State Government had arranged adequate advanced funds as per the initial requirements of various departments.
Prominent among others who were present on the occasion included SAD leader Mr. Amarjit Singh Sidhu, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister DS Guru, Principal Secretary Transport Mr. DS Jaspal, Principal Secretary Local Government, Mr. DS Bains, MD PIDB Mr. SS Sandhu, Secretary Planning Mr. Satish Chandra, Secretary Water Supply & Sanitation Mr. PS Aujala, Additional Principal Secretary Gagandeep Singh Brar, Director Transport Mr. Mandeep Singh, and overall project in charge Lt. Gen. (Retd.) B.S. Dhaliwal.
