Chandigarh October 2 : The Apoorva Pande Foundation organized its 4th Blood Donation Camp in collaboration with Garhwal Ram Lila Mandal (Bijli Board), Sector-28-B, Chandigarh in the memory of Apoorva Pande. Apoorva was a brilliant student , upcoming child artist and model, raring to help others. She lost her life in a fatal road accident near Karnal due to excessive blood loss.
Sh. Mohinder Pal Singh Superintendenting Engineer, Electricity Deptt. UT, inaugurated the blood donation camp as a Chief Guest by donating Blood. Sh.Ashwani Kumar Munjal was the Guest of Honour. The Chief Guest lauded the continued efforts made by Apoorva Pande Foundation in collaboration with Garhwal Ram Lila Mandal (Bijli Board) to encourage blood donation movement in and around Chandigarh. Sh.Ashwani Kumar Munjal stated that such blood donation camps create wider awareness about the importance of Voluntary Blood Donation drive. He emphasized that it was the need of the hour that more people, particularly the youth, to become regular blood donors to narrow the gap between demand and supply of ‘safe blood’. Safe blood through voluntary blood donations will help to control AIDS/HIV, Hepatitis and other communicable diseases.
More than 51 units of blood were collected under the supervision of Rotary & Blood Bank Society Resource Centre, Chandigarh. The medical technologists and students of Medical Technology from PGI also donated blood.
The prominent Star Blood Donors who donated blood today included 115th times by Mr.Ashwani Munjal, General Secretary, PGI Medical Technologists Association, Sh.Mukesh Sharma, Director Garhwal Ram Lila Mandal (Bijli Board) The Association gave gifts and appreciation certificates to the blood donors. M/s Biomex sponsored the refreshmentw.
Sh. K.S. Pundir, President, Sh.Virender Singh Gusain and Secretary Sh.Balwant Singh Rawat of Garhwal Ram Lila Mandal (Bijli Board), Sector-28-B, Chandigarh appreciated the role of Sh. Mukesh Sharma Chandigarh in making the day a grand success.
The foundation has been established with following objectives:
1. To work on health promotion activities and educational programmes for healthy living and social evils and deadly diseases like female feticide, population epidemic, AIDS, Child Labour etc. that are in the best interest of the public and patients.
2. To work on traffic safety and water conservation programmes in the best interest of the public.
3. To develop the qualities of leadership and brotherhood among the students and the public.
4. To make arrangements on charitable grounds for adult literacy especially for illiterate adults, schedule castes/tribes, handicaps and other un-privileged and under-privileged sections of the society.
5. To revive and propagate the Indian Culture in general and to organise cultural missions for preaching the objects of the Trust in India and abroad.
6. To provide for holding seminars, exhibitions, entertainments, meaningful lectures, display and to undertake the publications of works concerned directly or indirectly for the advancement of the objects of the trust and to promote, give or support moral, social and religious orders of the Trust.
