Barinder Saluja, Chandigarh,May 01 : As it was reported earlier that the AIEEE (All India Engineering Entrance Examination) was re-scheduled to 12.30 pm after the leak of the paper was reported from Lucknow, UP, but this news here in Chandigarh turned out to be ambiguous for some of the centers across the city. As the students reached the centers to appear in the exam, the authorities informed them that the paper has been postponed & the next date will be decided later. Listening to this some people started leaving the city believing the fact that the paper has been postponed only till they received the horrifying news that the paper was going on. They rushed back to the city from mid way and as they reached back to the center, their worries were increased as the situation had not changed rather parents and students were left midway at some of the centers where exam was not conduct at all. It was reported that some of the centers did not conduct the exam whereas exam was being conducted at the other centers. Experiencing this situation the parents and students got agitated and blocked the traffic in protest in front of some of the centers demanding the cancellation of the exam for today and should be rescheduled. The situation infront of sector 21, sector 19 and sector 10 centers was the worse effected. Parents and students took to the streets and blocked the vehicular traffic for almost 3 hrs raising slogans against CBSE and demanded that All India paper should be cancelled.
The India Post talked to some of the protesting students and parents at the sector 21 center, one of the center where the exam was not conducted at all :
Amarinder Singh, Student : “They are playing with our future. I have come all the way from Patiala to appear in this exam. This is not an entrance exam but it is an “EXIT” exam”.
Deepak, : “We will not sit quietly. They cant do this to us. Exams are being conducted at other centers then why they are not at this . They have to cancel the paper at all India level”
Parvesh : ” I have come from Nabha and in the morning they said that exam has been postponed and now they are not conducting the exam. They must at least give us a specific answer”
Gagan Khaira : “CBSE is not doing a good work. They dont care for their students future. They will spoil our future”
Mr. Ashwani Bhatia : “We have come all the way from Sirsa with my son for this exam & have been living in a Hotel. Today we suddenly come to know that there will be no exam at this particular center as other centers are conducting the exam. What will happen with the future of our children.”
Mohammad Sakib : ” I have come from Malerkotla and at 10.07 am they told us that the exam has been postponed but when i contacted my other friends at other centers, the exam was being conducted. They are not giving any satisfactory answer nor they are conducting the exam.”
Dr. Juggi Kundra : “In the morning before starting of the exam they told us that the exam has been cancelled & we will be informed through the news papers. But the exam is being conducted at other centers; then why they are not. This way the future of our children will be spoiled. We have come from Patiala for my son.”.
It was still not clear, at the time of the filling of this report, that the fate of 500 odd students, of this very center and some of more centers in the city, was hanging in the mid air that what will happen of them as the paper was not conducted at the sector 21 and some of the other centers in the city. None of the officials of the CBSE could be contacted as their cell phones did not respond. Ultimately parents and students had to go back at 2.30 pm when they were told that the paper will be conducted on 8th of May.
Due to all this confusion, the entrance exam of AFMC Pune too was effected and was rescheduled for 4.30 pm instead of 2.30 pm. which was to be held at the same centers today.
i think this is the biggest sin against humanity.. students study for 16 to 17 hours per day for getting good ranks. and their are some people with money only and no moral values… and the biggest culprits are the parents themselves who gave money for anything damn thing their kids ask for…. students should be thought to be honest and never to corrupt themselves and spoil their conscience…
