Archit Watts , Chandigarh August 8 : A proclaimed offender (PO) of Punjab police easily escaped from the trap laid down by the team of vigilance officers in Sector 35 here yesterday and also kidnapped a cop while his escape.
Though, the kidnapped cop managed to jump out of the moving car at a rotary in Sector 33-34.The Station House Officer of the Sector 36 police station said a team comprising of the Vigilance cops from Ferozepore came to the city, to nab PO Rajdeep Sharma, a resident of Baltana, yesterday.
The vigilance team had the information that Rajdeep Sharma was sitting in the Quite Office in Sector 35. Sharma was earlier booked in a cheating case and was declared as PO.
The team raided the office last morning and found Sharma sitting there. The team showed arrest warrants to him. Then, Sharma tried to deceive the police about his identity, but one vigilance officer identified him.
Sharma tried to flee from the spot and heated arguments took place between Sharma and the vigilance team, in which Vinod Kumar, uncle of Sharma and one Ram Parkash also took part.
The vigilance team called at police helpline “100”, to take the help from the local police and then Sharma agreed to go with them, but in his own Skoda car (CH-04-H-3581).
Ram Parkash took the driver’s seat while cop Balbir Singh sat beside Sharma on the rear seat. Before the other two policemen could sit in the car, Ram Parkash drove the car.
The other team members informed the local police that someone had kidnapped their colleague.Meanwhile, Balbir Singh jumped out of the moving car when it slowed down at a rotary of Sectors 33 and 34.
Later the police said that Vinod had been arrested in this case under sections 186, 332, 365, 34 of thr Indian Penal Code, while, both Rajdeep Sharma and Ram Parkash were still at large.
