The India Post, Chandigarh, 2nd February, 2009:A Writers’ Workshop is being organized by the Regional Resource Centre for Adult & Continuing Education, Panjab University , Chandigarh at ICSSR Complex, Panjab University , Chandigarh from Feb. 1-5, 2009. About 35 writers from Punjab and U.T. are participating in the workshop.
The workshop inaugurated by Prof. A.S.Kaang, Dean, Faculty of Arts and Chairperson of Guru Nanak Chair, Kurukshetra University. He said that writers can contribute a lot in awakening the aspirations of the learners. A writer by his writing can change the attitude and belief of the individual living in the village. The society can become a progressive society if there is interesting theme and right spirit in the script. The books to be developed will be in simple local language, should be natural and related with the life of an illiterate.
Prof. Anil Sarwal, English Teacher of DAV College gave details of communication in spoken English. He said vocabulary of English words is important. English words used in Punjabi should be documented. Skill for speaking English can be acquired but practice in skill makes hem confident, organization of ideas and words is important.
Shri C.R. Moudgil, Chairman, Haryana, Sahitya Academy, Panchkula initiated the interaction session with the writer on the selected theme for write ups for neo-literates i.e. mobile repair, beauty culture, medical attendant, physiotherapy, vermiculture, spoken English, nany care for elderly people according to Dr. Manjeet Paintal, Director, R.R.C., P.U.
