Chandigarh, November 15 : Today, on Children’s day and the last day of a two day training programme for student members of Peace Clubs of around 60 prominent Schools & Colleges of the city, Ram Niwas, IAS, Home Secretary cum Secretary, Education, Chandigarh Administration in his address stressed that along with the rights, we should be aware about our fundamental duties too. And we should value and preserve the rich heritage of our composite culture, renounce derogatory practices to the dignity of women, also safeguard public property and stay away from violence
Alarmed by the reports of 41% students in local Schools suffering from Dental diseases, Ram Niwas advocated that from the very young age, it is essential to teach them certain habits like washing hands before meals, regular brushing of teeth, and having a nice bath. These are entirely personal features. As we live in a society it is essential to follow certain rules like keeping our surroundings clean, avoid littering in public places and many more. He ended his speech with remarks that all senior class students should make it point to involve themselves in some kind of social work, so that we can make this city beautiful a model in all aspects for others.
Prominent amongst those who interacted with students today includes Apurva Pathak, Academic Director of Jaita Vidyalaya Educational Society, Assam who is spreading the culture of nonviolence and had also started around 47 Schools in the state to promote education for the poor. Prof. Archana from Mass Communication Department of Panjab University informed participants about important communication skills. Kristeen Singh from Be the Cause, USA, youth motivator Ajatshatru & Parmod Sharma, Coordinator, Yuvsatta guided the young peace leaders from educational institutions across the city in designing Peace Club activities.
