10 Aug : A two-day regional workshop on Quality Control and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), of Ayurvedic medicines would be organized on 12th and 13th August, 2009 at Shimla.
Dr. Rajeev Bindal, Health and Family Welfare Minister will preside over the inaugural ceremony.
According to an official spokesman, Ayurvedic drugs manufactures and concerned officials from Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Uttrakhand and Jammu and Kashmir would participate in the workshop. He said that motive of the workshop is to create awareness amongst the drugs manufactures and the doctors so as how to produce quality ayurvedic medicines. At present there are 121 small and big ayurvedic manufacturing units functioning in the State which mainly includes big names as Dabur, Vaidyanath, Himalayan Drug Company, Imami, Charak, Al-Chemist, Ranbaxy etc. He said that Himachal Pradesh is one of the few States where the percentage of GMP is 100 percent.
He said that such type of workshop is being organized for the first time in the State and is being sponsored by Ayush Department of Government of India.
