6 Feb : The Dental Council of India has demanded that dental colleges be set up in the country’s North Eastern region, Jammu and Kashmir and Bihar.
“Out of the total dental colleges in the country, about 60 per cent are in South India. Only few colleges were setup in North Eastern States, Jammu and Kashmir and Bihar. Setting up dental colleges in these areas is the only solution to clear the disparity,” DCI Secretary Vetri Vendan said in Chennai.Stating that DCI would encourage only those who want to setup dental colleges in rural areas with adequate faculty and infrastructure, he urged young dentists to go to rural areas and serve people suffering from various dental diseases.
