Chandigarh, November 21 ; Former state president Bharatiya Janata Party and Member National Council Sh Jai Ram Joshi passed away today after a brief illness of 25 days at Chandigarh. He was diagnosed suffering from liver cancer on October 28. The problem has spread to spine, lymph nodes and femur bones.
Mr Joshi’s cremation is onNovember 22 at 2 pmin the cremation ground of sector 25 Chandigarh.
Born on 11 of October 1941 in village Darang Khad near Pathankot, Sh Joshi is survived by wife and two sons. His elder son Sh Vineet Joshi is Assistant Media Advisor Punjab with Chief parliamentary Secretary rank and younger son is Municipal Councilor from ward no 2 Chandigarh. He had third son Sh Navneet Joshi who expired in a road accident on October 12, 2012.
Joshi was a swayamsewak (worker) of Rashtriya Swayam Sewak Sangh since childhood and was founder convenor of Sewa Bharti in Chandigarh. Besides State president of BJP Chandigarh he has remained state secretary, state general secretary, state vice president and member national executive of the party. Veteran Leader was credited with taking party to poor class or labour colonies in Chandigarh and was popularly addressed as Mahatama Gandhi of labour colonies.
Chief Minister Haryana Mr Manohar Lal Khattar visited Joshis and expressed his grief to the family members. He remembered Joshi’s simplicity and competent way of working. Khattar said Joshi was pillar of BJP in Chandigarh.
The Cabinet Minister Punjab Mr Bikram Singh Majithia visited the aggrieved family and expressed his condolence.
MLA and Former Minister Manoranjan Kalia, State President BJP Chandigarh Sanjay Tandon, Joint General Secretary of RSS Punjab-Chandigarh Amritsagar, National Vice president of Bharat Vikas Parishad Ajay Dutta, Senior Deputy Mayor Heera Negi, Councilors Des Raj Gupta and Rajesh Bittu, Former Mayor Kamla Sharma and Kewal Krishan Adiwal, Former President BJP Chandigarh Dharam Pal Gupta and Kamla Sharma and scores of social and political leaders visited house to pay their condolences.
