Naval warship INS Kochi, the stealth guided missile destroyers, was commissioned today by Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar at the Naval Dockyard in Mumbai. INS Kochi is the largest warship built in India so far. It has advanced stealth features, radar and weapons.
A displacement of 7,500 tonnes and can go faster than 30 knots.

“Jahi Shatrun Mahabaho” Which means, “Armed to conquer the enemy” in Sanskrit is the motto of the latest warship of Indian Navy.
INS Kochi is largest warship ever to be built in India. A lethal destroyer, this massive warship has a displacement of 7500 tonne and is packed with an array of weaponry, sensors, radar logistics and carries stealth features.
It’s the second ship of the three Kolkata-class destroyers being built at Mazagaon Docks. The majestic ship spanning 164 metres in length and 17 meters at the beam, is propelled by four gas turbines and designed to achieve speeds in excess of 30 knots.
The ship has a complement of about 40 officers and 350.
INS Kochi is packed with an array of state-of-the-art weapons and sensors, with a significant indigenous component. The third ship INS Chennai will be launched next year.
The ship is one of the few warships of the world and the second in the Indian Navy to have Multi-Function Surveillance and Threat Alert Radar to provide target data to Long Range Surface to Air Missile system.
