Ludhiana, 8 December: Leaders of congress of district Ludhiana welcomes Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh at Halwara airbase where his aircraft landed. Singh came to Ludhiana to take part in the convocation of Punjab Agriculture University.
Minister for Information and Broadcasting (independent charge), Manish Tewari also accompanied Dr Singh from New Delhi. Interestingly it was Tewari’s birthday today and was greeted by all the congress leaders who went to the airbase to welcome the leaders.
Sunil Jhakkar, who is the leader of opposition Punjab legislative assembly, president of district congress committee (urban) Pawan Dewan and (rural) Malkeet Dhaka were also present. Dr Malti Thapar who is the chief of women congress, state president of youth congress, Bikram Singh Choudhari and congress councilors including Rakesh Pandey,
Surinder Dawar, Amreek Singh Dhillon, Gurcharan Singh Boparai, Bharat Bhushan, former councilor Isher Singh Meharban, Harmohinder Singh and Gurdeep Singh Bhoni were also present. Other leaders who welcomed Dr Singh were, KK Bawa, Gurmel Singh Pahelwan, Ashok Prasher Pappi and Leena Taparia.
Leader of congress congratulated the prime minister for passing FDI in parliament. Leaders also congratulated Manish Tewari for his birth anniversary today.
