New Delhi : BJP Delhi Pradesh President Shri Satish Upadhyay has strongly condemned the anti women attitude of Kejriwal Government. He said that Arvind Kejriwal who came to power making big promises of women security and empowerment of women and organised candle march on small incidents for political gain, is now disregarding the interest of the women.
Kejriwal Government may be perhaps the only Government in India or the World in which there is no representation of women in the cabinet. The Government which made big promises for the security of women before the elections has wasted one year in power on controversies but has not installed a single CCTV or Marshals for women security in the Buses.
Shri Upadhyay said that women security was only an election issue for Kejriwal Government which has been forgotten by him after coming to power anddue to which the women staff working for Women Helpline 181 has not been paid their salary after October, 2015. Besides this the payment for the Taxies operating under the helpline is also being delayed. Similarly the women staff of the Gender Resource Centre which was a medium of providing benefits of Government Schemes to the women is not being paid regularly.
Shri Upadhyay further said that we have information that in the Delhi Women Commission where harassed women come for help, most of the women staffs have been replaced by male party volunteers due to which the affected women feel great difficulty in filing their complaints. Similarly after AAP Government came to power, the Delhi Women Commission has stopped the registration of cases of women victims and they are being told to go to the Crime Against Women Cell of Delhi Police. Registration of cases in Women Commission for small family disputes was very useful because the members of the commission have full powers to enquire and take police action but perhaps Ms. Swati Maliwal does not want to use her powers in the interest of women and hence has discontinued the old system.
Shri Upadhyay also said that a delegation of Delhi BJP will meet the Lt. Governor Shri Najeeb Jung on this issue and demand for strengthening the Women Commission, Women Helpline etc.
