8 Aug : 53-year-old Fahmida Panwala has died of suspected swine flu in Mumbai’s Kasturba Hospital since it is the second case of swine flu death in the country.
Centre has rushed one lakh tami-flu tablets each to Pune and Mumbai.
The lady was undergoing treatment in private hospitals earlier and was admitted to the Government hospital only on Friday evening.
She was having respiratory problems and was diabetic.
Meanwhile in Pune, the city worst affected by H1N1, a six-year-old girl was admitted to the ICU ward of a government hospital even as two more patients hit by the virus, a doctor and a pharmacist, continued to battle for their lives.
In Delhi Fourteen more people tested positive for swine flu today.
These included one from the elite Sanskriti school, taking the total number of people afflicted with the disease to 215 in Delhi.
Apart from this,16 suspected patients of swine flu were admitted in hospitals across the capital as well.
Centre has rushed one lakh tablets of Temi Flu each to Mumbai and Pune.
This follows directions from Union health Minister Gulam Nebi Azad to the health ministry to ensure adequite availability of Tami-Flu medicine at every district headquarters .
The Minister also asked the people not to panic.
Five member central team will be going to Pune to assess the situation and further necassary action will be taken after the report.
Following the directions of the Ministers one lakh each tablets are being sent to 7 metros, ten thousand each to 35 major cities and one thousand each at every distrcit headquarters.
