Sufi singer Rekha Bhardwaj is wife of famous Director-Producer-Music Composer Vishal Bharadwaj,she is a playback singer known in the industry for her distinctive style of singing. She released her first album in 2004 titled ‘Ishqa Ishqa’ which won her critical acclaim. The song ‘Raat ki Jogan’ from the album, Ishqa Ishqa was conceived in 1994, almost 10 years before it released.
Her songs in the film Omkara, especially ‘Namak Isqh Ka’, which were written by Gulzar and composed by Vishal, won her rave reviews. She is the recipient of the 58th National Film Awards for the Best Female Playback singer for the film Ishqiya.
On Micromax MTV Unplugged, she will be doling out in her powerful and soulful voice some unplugged versions of her famous tracks like ‘Namak ishq ka’ from the film Omkara, ‘Tere ishq me’ from her album Ishqa Ishqa, ‘Genda phool’ from the film Delhi 6, and the recent hit ‘Darling’ from the movie Saath Khoon Maaf amongst others. Other songs that she will be singing are ‘Raat ke dhai baje’ from the film ‘Kaminey’, ‘Ab mujhe koi intezar kaha’ from the album Ishqa Ishqa.
