Chandigarh, September 3:An inimitable and inspiring photography exhibition ‘The Fifth Dimension’, comprising work of young photographers from Carmel Convent School Sector 9, was held at Punjab Kala Bhavan today. Selected work of student’s annual collection was presented as an exhibition under the guidance of chief mentor of the club AnkurVadhera. He has been training students in basics and advance skills in photography through creative workshops since 2011.
The Chief Guest at the occasion Sh. Vijay Kumar Dev, Advisor to the Chandigarh Administrator, appreciated the talent and creativity of youngsters. He selected the top three entries of the exhibition to encourage participants. The Guest of honour at the event, Dr. Prabhdip Brar, an ex-carmelite, fashion columnist and an ace Artist who is currently a faculty member at Panjab University complimented students for the work.
This is the third annual exhibition of Carmel students’ in the city and the work presented by students was inspirational and unique. The exhibition stood out as being an all-girls initiative, in which the age of participants varied from as young as 10 years to 17 years. The winners of the photography exhibition held by the club during the academic session 2014-2015 were also announced.
“This creative journey has added wings to our inspiration. I truly feel inspired to work more on my photography skills,” said Ashita Swami, a young photographer from Carmel Convent.
“The training sessions and this subsequent display of work has brought out the best in me. I am much more confident with my camera now and can capture moments with my inner tranquility,” adds Alisha Sharma, another students whose work was displayed.
The school’s club mentor, AnkurVadhera, said that it was students’ passion for learning which kept the enthusiasm alive. “The students had a fantastic spirit to learn and absorb the basics of camera skills. Their innocence and a fresh perspective brought out the best in them and gave a learning dimension to this year’s lessons,” he adds.
