By Madhup. Chandigarh, 17th Nov: Today, JDTI (Jewellery Design and Technology Institute) students put forth on display innovation in jewellery incorporated with aestheticness and creativity. All the way it was high-fashion custom-fitted jewellery, where students had given extreme attention to detail and finish in order finding ingenious possibilities. After long research and days of experimentation students were able to understand and practice the fashionable jewellery which resulted in initial meaning and concepts. These concepts were defined, finalized and further worked upon to get the desired look and quality.

It was a challenge for the students to work on this project as there were long hours of study of methodology, lot of experimentation, practicing techniques and finally making their designed couture pieces in Silver, in combination with other fabulous materials. Such works are, hand-executed techniques and often time-consuming.

According, to CEO of JDTI, Ms Ritu Malik said, “This project focuses and explore various  crafts to interpret the wealth of technical concepts found all around us. We were also curious to know their possible application and utilization in new direction for jewellery making, and finally to give serious consideration to hand-executed techniques.”

“At our institute, students conceptualized the trends harmoniously which were finally manufactured by students themselves under the supervision of faculty and technical assistants” she adds.

Students have also practiced and understood crafts like Filigree (Orissa), Paper Mache (Kashmir), Dhokra (Orissa), Wood Work (Nagina, U.P.), Glass work (Firozabad, Aligarh ), Bidri (Bidar, karnataka), and also precious crafts  like Kundan, Mokume Game, Basketry, braiding, knitting, cane and bamboo crafts, Chip Inlay to name a few in such efforts.
