Synopsis of the film:
‘Bhageerathi’ film is based on a kannada folk ballad ‘Kerege Haara’ (A Sacrifice for a tank). Mallanagowda was the chief of Kallana Keri Village. His son Maadevaraya was a warrier. By the inspiration of Bhageerathi – a young lady of another village, Maadevaraya made his father to agree for constructing a tank to help the poor farmers. While constructing the tank Maadevaraya and bhageerathi fell in love. The marriage took place in the tank premises itself. But the irony is that both of them sacrifice their life in the same tank.
