Chandigarh, April 5 – National Informatics Centre (NIC), Haryana State Unit organized a one-day state level workshop on National Animal Disease Reporting System (NADRS) project for Veterinary Surgeons and Animal Husbandry department. The objective of this scheme is to provide instant alerting system (SMS based) for outbreak of diseases, spread of diseases and remedial measures. It would help the administration to control diseases at a very initial stage thus would minimize the loss to live stock.
Mr Parmvir Singh, Minister for Agriculture and Animal Husbandry, Haryana emphasized on the importance of correct and timely reporting of animal disease data for quick remedies and decision makings. Appreciating the efforts of NIC for the development of a comprehensive internet based Animal Disease reporting system, he directed the concerned officers to implement this programme in right sprit across the state.
Mr Hardeep Kumar, Financial Commissioner and Principal Secretary, Animal Husbandry and Dairying Department asked field officers to implement NADRS in totality so that Haryana could become a role model for whole country. He emphasized on establishing a mechanism to monitor that each location on daily basis. He said that with a view to bring desired change in the existing situation, a web enabled computerized system of animal diseases reporting is being introduced by linking each block, district and state head quarter to a central disease reporting and monitoring unit at Department of Animal Husbandry, Dairying and Fisheries, Government of India in New Delhi. This would facilitate to record and monitor the situation of livestock diseases.
