Post Graduate Govt. College for Girls, Sector-42, Chandigarh organized its 33rd Annual Prize Giving Function in the College premises. As many as 310 students were awarded prizes for excelling in the field of academics and co-curricular activities. Nineteen Students were honored with Roll of Honour (for Academics: Savita, Nidhi Verma, Harpreet Kaur, Neelima Sharma, Shivani, Deepika, Gurpreet Kaur, Varinda Tiwari, Rupa Jha, Sheetal, Anupama Sharma, Jagpreet Kaur, Sukhmeen Kaur, Manisha, Jyoti, Ruby Dagar, Rupinder Kaur, Shalini Chaudhary, Charu Advani and for Co-Curricular Activates 7 Students: Ijeoma Magdalene, Anupama Sharma, Kunzes Angmo, Tavleen Singh, Balbir Kaur, Aditi Mehra and Shelly. 13 students were awarded College Colour for Co-Curricular Activities. Around 200 Students were awarded academic prizes for securing positions in University and House Examination and 68 students were awarded mementoes for cultural activities, NCC, NSS and Blood Donation etc and to office bearers of Students Council. Smt. Saroj Vasudeva Scholarship was awarded to Savita MA-II Public Administration, Shelly BA-III and Ijeoma Magdalene B.Com-III. Smt. Laxmi Devi Memorial Cash prize of Rs 1000 /- went to best all Post Graduate student to Savita of MA-II Public Administration. Beena Amarjit Memorial cash Prize of Rs 1000 /-was awarded to Anupama Sharma of BA-III, the best All Round Student for the session 2014-15. Beena Amarjit Memorial cash Prize was also awarded to 19 students for securing First Position in the university examinations. Deepika of B.Sc-III (Non-Medical) was adjudged the best Science Student and Sukhmeen Kaur of B.Com-III also adjudged the Best Commerce Student respectively. Shelly of BA-III was awarded Indira Gandhi National NSS Award for the year 2013-14 by the President Pranab Mukherjee at Rashtrapati Bhavan, New Delhi. Ijeoma Magdalene of B.Com-III received the pride of the college award and Karan Veer Kaur of B.Sc-II Bio-tech (Honours) bagged Diva of the College Award.
Sh. Vijay Kumar Dev, IAS, Adviser to the Administrator was the Chief Guest on the occasion while speaking on the occasion he exhorted the efforts of the faculty and students and asked students to have constant quest for knowledge and thrust for competition which would see them through in highly competitive world. Praising the college he said as Chandigarh is the pride of India this institution is the pride of the Chandigarh. While complimenting the prize winners he appreciated the college for providing the holistic development to girl students in different areas. He also emphasized to have more job potentials keeping in view the subjects available at the college level. Sh. Sandeep Hans, Director Higher Education, Chandigarh was the Guest of Honour. Dr. Parvinder Singh, Controller of examinations Panjab University Chandigarh was also present on the occasion. “Scoop” The Annual News Letter of the Functional English Department was also released on the occasion by the Chief Guest. Principal Mrs. Mani Bedi highlighted the achievements of the College for the current session. As many as 150 units of blood were donated by the staff and students. From the coming academic session new academic programmes in the subject of cosmetology will be introduced. Mrs. Sushmita, Vice Principal proposed a vote of thanks.
