University of Western Sydney (UWS) (Australia) and Panjab University (PU), Chandigarh
today agreed for collaborations in various fields as they signed a Memorandum of
Understanding (MoU) here today.
PU Vice Chancellor (VC) Prof Arun Kumar Grover and UWS, VC Prof. Barney Glover signed
the agreement as per which both the leading Universities of India and Australia agreed
to cooperate for development of collaborative research projects; organisation of joint
academic and scientific activities, like courses, conferences, seminars, symposia or
lectures; exchange of academic staff for teaching and research activities; exchange of
students to undertake study or participate in research programs and exchange of
publications and other information of common interest. Both Universities agreed that
cooperative projects under this Agreement may include any of the academic disciplines of
the two Universities.
As per the MoU, PU and UWS agreed to appoint a coordinator, who will be responsible for
managing the development and conduct of any activities upon which the both Universities
agreed. The MoU envisages that either party may initiate proposals for activities at any
time and submit them to the other party for consideration. If both Universities agreed
to implement any proposal then they will enter into a legally binding agreement
incorporating suitable provisions, depending on the nature of the activities agreed, it
added.
High level delegation of University of Western Sydney (Australia) was on a visit PU to
explore possibilities of academic collaborations with PU. The UWS delegation would also
include Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research & Development)- Professor Scott Holmes, Pro
Vice-Chancellor International – Linda Taylor, Dean School of Business – Professor Clive
Smallman, Dean School of Computing, Engineering and Mathematics -Professor Simeon
Simoff, Dean School of Social Sciences and Psychology –Professor Kevin Dunn, Associate
Pro Vice-Chancellor (International) and Director, UWS International, Yi-Chen Lan and
Julia Shelley as Senior Regional Manager for India.
