A very interactive panel discussion on “HOW TO START A BUSINESS AT COLLEGE LEVEL” was held by EDC-UIET (Entrepreneurship development cell) at GOLDEN JUBILEE HALL,PU on 18th april 2012. About 200 UIETians were present in this interaction. EDC-UIET was setup in 2011 with support and inspiration from professor S K Chadha of central placement cell of PU.
The Panelists included highly respected entrepreneurs
1. Mr. Gurmeet Singh Chawla(Director, Master Trust Ltd.),
2. Mr. Puneet Vatsayan(Serial entrepreneurer & President, TIE Punjab & Chd),
3. Mr. Gursheel Sahni , Mr. Abhishek & Mr.Siddharth Suman (Co-Founders Of Bookshala.com, students of PEC)
4. Mr. Bhavmit Singh Chandoak (CEO, Tigerwealth Management),
5. Mr. N.S Aujla, Director VISIONS,
6. Prof. S. K. Chadha, Director, Central Placement Cell
7. Mr. Nitish Bansal,a UIET 8th semester student who has started a startup by name “Accombliss”.
The major question was whether it is right to start a business at college level? The entire panel agreed that there are no cons in doing so. Mr Puneet Vatsayan stressed that starting at college level would lead to HUGE amount of mental growth, learning and satisfaction. This fact could be very easily appreciated by observing the ease and pleasure with which Nitish Bansal and Gursheel Sahni were discussing complex business matters. Both Nitish (UIET) and Gursheel (PEC) are students and at the same time entrepreneurers. Gursheel stressed that students should keep doing something and keep experimenting with ideas as we just do not know which one would click in a big way.
Before “Bookshala.com” (online selling-buying of second hand books) finally happened to him he tried his hands with several things (online AIEEE testing portal, online quizzing portal etc ) and also failed several times. Panelists agreed that there are many failures before success and an entrepreneurer should sustain highs and lows. Another student entrepreneurer, Nitish Bansal has been chief-coordinator of Efficycle 2010 and Efficycle 2011, won first prize for most cost-efficient vehicle in BAJA- 2012 and Chairperson for SAE UIET Chapter form 2010-12. Nitish shared with students that one should manage his time well and Panelists also gave tips to students on time-management.
Mr N S Aujla shared that one should plan his day and should give his 100% to the work which one is doing at a particular instant of time. In other words one should divert his attention from the old activity totally when one starts a new one. Professor Chadha motivated the students to be ready to take risk and be ready to accept failures. He urged the students to dream, to chalk-out a road map for their dreams and execute the road-map. Mr Bhavmit Singh Chandok while answering a question explained that one has to try-out to become an entrepreneurer in the same way as one has to just ride-on the bycycle to learn cycling.
Panel explained the students that there is no dearth of funds if at all their business-IDEA is good. There are venture-capitalists who are keen to provide capital to good ideas provided the good-idea is potent enough to collect profit. Mr N S Aujla shared that the biggest problem he faced in his initial days was that clients would get work done from his start-up and would not pay. Therefore, he stressed that the entrepreneurer should be smart enough to extract money from his clients. There were specific crisp questions on how to register a company and on the formalities one should complete while starting a start- up.
To cater to these questions Professor Chadha told the students that EDC- UIET will organize some workshops. Co-founder of EDC-UIET Mr Prashant Aneja (second year student) shared with the house that TIE and EDC-UIET have agreed to move forward together. He also shared that in next semester EDC- UIET will conduct Business-plan contests, would support as well as mentor good Business-plans and try level best to roll-out lot of start-ups from UIET.
Dear Participants & Organisers,
There is no use to study in India as there is no scope for employment, because when educated persons demand jobs they are beaten with batons & bullied with water shower Guns as has been experienced in almost every State of this country.
And The Emplooyment Exchages Offices are almost defunct & are merely burden on the Punlic Exchequer & are just meant for employment of favorites of Politicians therein.
Thus better start your own enterprises, may be in a small way to manage your living in the future.
There are many small & big plans & projects available with us to start businesses & these can be imparted to willing Entreprenuers against MoU, through *The India Post*—dr.amritgaur
