Chandigarh : Panjab University (PU), Chandigarh Professor of Pharmacology in University Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (UIPS) Dr. Anil Kumar has been selected for the ICMR Award in the recognition of his significant research contribution for Biomedical Research work on Neuropharmacological investigations on various neuroprotective mechanisms for age and related problems.
Award carries a cash prize of Rs 20,000/- and Certificate of Honor.
Prof. Kumar has investigated various neuroprotective mechanisms for age and related
problems particularly, Alzheimer, Huntington’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, stroke &
post stroke depression, stress complications, and sleep related problems. Presently,
Prof. Kumar is a youngest Professor of PU.
Earlier, Prof. Kumar is a recipient of various national and international awards,
Chandra Kanta Dandiya Prize for Best research paper in Pharmacology (2014), Bharat
Shiksha Ratan Award (2014), APTI’s Young Pharmacy Teacher Award (2011), BOYSCAST
fellowship (2010), AICTE Career award (2007), Lilly Young Investigator fellow award
(2007), USA Rafaelson’s Young Investigator award of CINP, USA (2007), Best research
paper award of Journal of Cell and tissue research (2007), Riken Brain Science
Fellowship, Japan (2007), INSA visiting fellowship and several travel awards/
fellowships. Prof. Kumar has published more than 120 research papers in national and
international journals [Citation index is more 1500, H index 18] and presently actively
several postgraduate (M. Pharm) and doctoral thesis students (PhD) are working in his
laboratory. Professor Kumar is presently a member of National Academy of Medical
Science (MNAMS), Member of National Academy of Science, Allahabad (MNASc) including
member of Punjab Academy of Science, International Brain Research Organization etc.
Prof. Kumar is widely travelled neuroscientist particularly Japan, Italy USA, Australia,
Malaysia, Thailand, China, Czech Republic, Spain, Greece, Vienna, Macau, China, UAE,
Dubai , South Korea , France, Taiwan for his research work.
