Common I-card for all the students of tri-city : Prof. R.K. Kohli

Chandigarh : A meeting by the  Chandigarh based Academic & Research Institute Librarians held at A.C. Joshi Library, Panjab University, Chandigarh with an aim to share resources within limits of copyrights.  Librarians from Research Institutions like PGI, IMTECH, IISER, CRRID, MG State Institution of Public Administration, PEC, NABI, etc. participated in the meeting, convened by Dr. Raj Kumar, University Librarian, Panjab University, Chandigarh.  DUI, Panjab University Prof. R.K. Kohli, presided over the meeting.

Prof. Kohli while stressing need for cooperation between research laboratories including exchange of teachers and resources, emphasisd that this cooperation must percolate right upto the users. Idea of one common I-card for all the students of tri-city is to facilitate use of each other resources.

The participants felt the need for proper resource sharing mechanism among academic and research libraries in the region. They also delved into various problems in connection with inter library cooperation. It was resolved that as a first step, the libraries must prepare a Union List of their periodical holdings and it should be put up on their web-site.                This meeting was in fact a follow-up of the earlier meeting held in this direction at IISER, Mohali.
