Chandigarh : The Music Club of PEC University of Technology kicked off the new academic year in style as it came out with the newest edition of its flagship event – Chords-15 showcasing freshmen talent in a wide variety of genres. Thecollege’s Deputy Director Sanjeev Sofat, DSA Dr. Perminderjeet Singh and ADSA Dr. Divya Bansal graced the occasion with their presence.
The new recruits of the Music Club from the first and second years performed on the occasion. The performances were prepared under the leadership of the club’s General Secretary Agnit Mukhopadhyay and Joint Secretary Ayanjit Roy.
The melodious evening started with an impressive display of talent by Divyendu on the song Haal-e-Dil, which was followed by several other remarkable performances. Rishabh’s soulful rendition of "Abhi Mujh Mei Kahi" left everyone spellbound. "Milne Hai Mujhse Aayi" was sung beautifully by Harshit. The audience cheered every performance and raised the performer’s enthusiasm throughout the programme. Young talent Namrata gave an exceptionally impressive performance, when she sang the famous “Banno” mixed with a rap touch by Parveen. The Qawwali "Bhar Do Jholi Meri” lent a sufi touch to the environment. Flawless instrumentals by Devansh, Dilraj, Jayant, Sachin and Rajpreet were the backbone of the performances. The evening had its share of old classics as well as Nilanshu performed S P Balasubramaniam’s evergreen number "Mere Rang Mein" in his beautiful voice. He was given a standing ovation by the audience. The highlights of the event included covers of the popular Backstreet Boys song "Incomplete" and Passenger’s “Let Her Go”. Dikshant and Ayaan had the crowd singing with them, as they concluded the event with the PEC Fest 2015 Theme Song.
Chords is the inaugural event of the Music Club, and was held along with the inaugural event of Dramatics Club, ‘Aaghaz’ which was organzed on 7th October and ‘Friday Night at PEC Market’ on 9th October 2015, known jointly as Freshers’ Nights. These events have been organised to provide a fun-filled welcome to the newly admitted students in 1st year, while providing them a chance to showcase their talents.
