The department of Urdu, University of Jammu today organized a Sham-e-Ghazal in the Prof. Gian Chand Jain seminar Hall of the department. The program was organized in collaboration with Nami Dogri Sanstha , Anjuma-e-Taraqi Urdu Hind and Centre for Professional Studies in Urdu, Jammu University. The Jammu University Vice Chancellor Prof M.P. Singh Ishar was the Chief Guests while MLC Rafiq Hussain Shah was Guest of Honour on the occasion. Prof. Shohab Inayat Malik, HOD Urdu ,Prof. Sukhchain Singh, Dr Reyaz Ahmed. Dr Chaman Lal , Dr AR Manhas, Dr Farat Shamim and Dr Ashok Singh were also present on the occasion. The Sham-e-Ghazal was attended by the Galaxy of intellectual’s poets and writers.
The reputed Ghazal singers of the state Nidhi Kela, Supriya Sharma, Deepali Watal, Subash Lengah, Neelam Lengah, Sakaw Hussain of Rampus,T Dorje entertain the audience by presenting Ghazal of different Urdu poets. Deepali Watal and Sakhawat Hussain of Rampur got thunder of applause by the audience when they sung Urdu Ghazal in their melodious voice.
Speaking on the occasion the Vice Chancellor of the University of Jammu Prof. M.P. Singh Ishar appreciated the efforts of the department of Urdu for organizing Sham-e-Ghazal. He also congratulated the Ghazal singers who in their melodious voice entertain the audience by presenting Urdu Ghazals. He said that Ghazal is the popular genre of Urdu language and is liked by each and everyone in the nook and corner of the world i.e. why in European countries Shame-Ghazal are being organized which are being liked by the people living in Europe.. He further said that Ghazal had come in Urdu Through Persian. Urdu had produced Ghazal Poets like Galib, Mir, Darad and Iqbal who write the Ghazals keeping in view the Art of Ghazal. He said that India and Pakistain had produced towering Ghazal Singers like Talit Aziz, jageet Singh, Ghulam Ali, Mehandi Hassan and Atta Ulla Khan who in present age gave new dimensions to Urdu Ghazal by singing them in their melodious voice.
The Guest of Honour MLC Rafiq Hussian Shah also spoke on the occasion and described Ghazal a respect of Urdu poetry and announced Rs_one lakh from constituency development fund for the proposed Sadat Hassan Manto auditorium which is being constructed in the department of Urdu, University of Jammu. He spoke some of the important aspects of Urdu Ghazals. He further said that Urdu Ghazal in respect of caste, Colour and creed is liked by Non-Urdu Knowing people also i.e. why thousands of people throughout the India and Pakistan are attending Sham-e-Ghazals. Sham-e-Ghazals are being also organized on TV’s and Radios. He further said that Ghazal gave a message of love and brother hood, National Integration and Communal Harmony.
He congratulated the artist as well as Urdu department for organizing the Sham-e-Ghazal and hoped that these types of programs would be organized in near future also. Earlier in his welcome address Prof. Shohab Inayat Malik HOD Urdu in detail threw light on the origin and development of Urdu Ghazal. He informed that Quli Qutab Shah was the 1st Urdu poet in Ghazal. He also discussed the contribution of Wali, Mir, Darad , Iqbal and others. Ghazal writer in the development of Urdu Ghazal as well as Urdu Language.
He also lauded the efforts of Ghazal Singers to popularize this genre of Urdu in every nook and corner of the country. He informed that in near future such programs would be organized frequently so that campus remains culturally vibrant. The proceeding of the program was conducted by Dr Reyaz Ahmed while vote of thanks was presented by Anand Leher President Anjuman-e-Traqeei Urdu Hind. Dr Haresh Kela President Nami Dogri Sanstha, Mr Khurshed Kazmi, Mr Rahat Hussain, Dr S P Vaid were also present on the occasion.
