After Ratan Tata, Qimpro Foundation awarded Prof. Amitabh Mattoo Qimpro Platinum Standard 2008

Jammu, November 26 : Prof.Amitabh Mattoo, Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu, has been awarded the Qimpro Platinum Standard 2008 for Education by Qimpro Foundation.

The Qimpro Awards are recognized as the country’s premier quality citations which highlight the quality achievements of individuals in an era of global competition and global expectations in the fields of Business, Healthcare and Education.

Prof. Amitabh Mattoo has been recognized as quality statesmen for bringing educational excellence and implementing world class quality practices in an education institution, by the Qimpro Foundation.

It may be mentioned here that the University of Jammu is the first public University in the country to have its quality management system certified by ISO 9001:2000 and the first to have established an independent unit of Quality Assurance and Strategic Planning responsible for review and monitoring of new and existing quality initiatives and planning of new projects.

The Quality Assurance Unit works as an in-house consultant suggesting and working out strategic interventions to bring in an element of efficiency in the systems and processes. In sync with the practices adopted by most of the Universities globally, the Centre was established in 2005, as quality assurance being an ongoing and evolving process cannot be sustained by periodic strategic interventions and independent initiatives but by having a strategic planning process in place to provide a complete framework for improvement and Quality Enhancement.

The Centre is not another hierarchical structure, record keeper or an administrative arm but a unit for ushering into an era of Total Quality Management through planning and monitoring process. With these initiatives the University has been able to transform the University into an institution with a culture of transparency, accountability, self-evaluation and continual improvement for enhanced stakeholder focus and participation.

The earlier recipients of the Qimpro awards are academic and business leaders like Ratan Tata, N R Narayan Murthy,Kumar Mangalam Birla, Aziz Hasham Premji, Aditya Vikram Birla, Dr.Indira Hinduja, Dr.Meenakshi Gopinath, Dr. Kanti Bajpai .
